Alongside his legal advocacy, Ravi's broad practice encompasses ESG consultancy, human rights advisory, and public speaking, most recently at the University of Oxford and the Middle Temple. For his advocacy, Ravi recently won the 2023 International Bar Association Human Rights Award. The legal challenges brought by Ravi led to an indirect moratorium on death penalty cases in Singapore which ultimately contributed to the amendment to the law on mandatory death penalty where several of his clients and other death row inmates were spared the death penalty. Ravi also played an instrumental role in the decriminalisation of homosexuality in Singapore through the legal challenges he mounted in court. At present, Ravi divides his time between ESG consultancy and as the Director of M. Ravi Law. As an administrative law expert, Ravi assists companies with mandatory reporting, due diligence, and strategic policy creation. He is also available for instruction as arbitration counsel at the SIAC and HKIAC.His cases form a substantial part of any Singaporean constitutional law textbook, involving the apex litigation of complex issues pertaining to freedom of speech, capital and corporal punishment, election rights. He has been described by Dr Jothie Rajah as Singapore's only cause lawyer; by Sir Richard Branson as "courageous"; and by Al Jazeera as "Singapore's most vocal anti-death penalty advocate".
