I have 5+ years of experience in quantum computing, both experimental (electronics, photonics, cryogenics) and more theoretical (simulation, compilation and programming). At Oxford Ionics, my main responsibility is in developing the technical roadmap and blueprints that will allow us to do useful quantum computing at scale. Watch this space!While most of my expertise is in trapped-ion quantum hardware, I am deeply interested in the whole of quantum computing space and all hardware implementations. People have different views on how promise and challenges of different QC platforms, but until someone factors a 2048-bit integer, it's anybody's game!Highlights from my published research to date:In 2021 we performed world's highest fidelity dissipative preparation of entangled states (https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.128.080503). The record was broken a week later, but still!In 2020, we performed world's first two-qubit gate in trapped ions using integrated optics (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-020-2823-6). This really showed the world what's possible, and photonic integration is now part of the roadmap for all serious trapped-ion QC playersIn 2017/2018, we performed world's highest precision tests of quantum contextuality (https://journals.aps.org/pra/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevA.98.050102, https://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.120.180401)
