Joint project with Hello Bio and the University of Bristol developing research antibody capabilities at Hello Bio

• Three month placement in intellectual property supporting the team of in-house attorneys with scientific information for patent applications, oppositions and freedom to operate assessments. Successfully provided data submissible to the patent office as legal evidence.• Worked across the core UCB therapeutic areas of neurology and immuno-bone and multiple other departments with work presented at the global intellectual property meeting • Brilliant opportunity to learn about the core business activities of a large pharmaceutical company; intellectual property is at the heart of everything done by the business.

Biochemical Society funded research placement characterising novel endoribonucleases involved in ribosome biogenesis

• Alongside undergraduate studies worked in a busy molecular biology laboratory supporting research activities in addition to conducting experiments investigating ribosomal RNA processing. This utilised core molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR and cloning) and culminated in the competitive award of a summer research studentship worth £1600.
