Ensuring business continuity and security for the protection of our systems and security of client data.Development of strong negotiating positions with key suppliers based on a comprehensive knowledge of the market and availability of alternative options, as well as a sound understanding of contract law.I took the helm on the internal IT department in 1998 and have a team of 21 highly competent and motivated professional Information Technology specialists. These are comprised of two teams.Application Development, which have 6 staff, deal with business systems analysis, software design and development. Technologies used are SharePoint, .Net, IBM Websphere, Lotus Notes and VASTOperations, a team of 15 staff who deal with network design, systems implementation, security, business continuity, application and user support Systems are operated to High Availability standards with systems uptime in excess of 99.999% of total available time.The teams are heavily involved in the logistics planning & execution of any type of restructuring whether this relates to acquisitions & mergers, or office relocationsI encourage all team members but in particular senior team members, to develop a strong understanding of the IT market and to negotiate with suppliers from a position of strength.I am the author of the firm’s Business Continuity and Procedures manual which is regularly reviewed and approved by the firm’s insurers.In addition to my work as Director of Information Technology I am a member of the Infrastructure Management Team (IMT) comprising the directors of Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology. Our work is to secure the total operational environment and resourcing for the firm on an efficient, cost-effective basis and to ensure that models of best practice are applied throughout. The IMT liaises closely with the Managing Partner, Colin Moore.
