I am a teacher. There is a saying in Finnish, that those who don’t know how, teach others. To me this is just logic and the truth; you should just add that those who teach know this by personal experience. One cannot learn it from the books, but by doing.One formula about learning steps goes like this: thinks that knows, knows that don’t know, knows, understands, applies and develops. To me the first three steps are repeating and the three others are just a byproducts of that process. Very very often even experts rely too much on some knowledge and there by paralyze their thinking. I am not a scientist. I am just teaching, And, we humans don’t walk on straight trails. There are times, when we cannot count on old solutions. Though we manage with theories and knowledge we have stored in our (left) brain, we do need the right side even more. Especially now a days, when career planning or coaching, I encourage my clients and students to find novel ideas, new angles. I challenge them to leave the comfort zone. The situation in our country and the world has changed and will be changing. Actually it has been the case through the centuries, but we tend to think that the present time is stable.The steps of learning – as I see them- are the road to be a good teacher, so the anecdote in the beginning is right. I don't know, but I do want to find out, again and again.
