During my internship at Bright Renewables I worked on optimisation of the CO2 liquefaction plants. The CO2 originates from the produced biogas and is separated from methane via Brights upgraders. Instead of emitting this (short-cycle) CO2, it is purified and condensed to be used as a resource in other processes. I will use my knowledge of process technology and engineering to develop improvements to the process. The theoretical part of the assignment consisted of energy optimisation and heat integration, reducing the energy consumption of the production. The assignment also had a more practical side, using data analysis of the installations to investigate issues and opportunities to improve performance.

Within OS, the umbrella organisation of study associations at the University of Twente, I was responsible for the associations within the faculty of Science and Technology. There I connected the different board members and the associations and assisted them where possible. Furthermore I was also involved in CoViD-19 policy at the UT and played a large role in designing a new distribution system for ERO courses for all associations.

As Commissioner of External Affairs I was responsible for the contact with companies and sponsors for the Alembic Symposium of May 2022. The purpose of my function is to provide students with sufficient career orientation but also to collect money to make this all real! The symposium was themed "Road to the Future" and was aimed at sustainability and the energy transition, an important present-day topic that interests most of the CSE students.

As Commissioner of Internal Affairs during my fulltime board year at study association C.T.S.G. Alembic I was responsible for overseeing our committees, the ICT, activities, our yearly study trips and I was a general point of contact for our members. While developing my own soft-skills, I was also actively involved in helping our members develop themselves. Due to the pandemic, my role was extra difficult while also extra important. Connecting members via committees and activities and checking up on them made the circumstances more bearable for our members and made a large difference on the long-term consequences the association experiences due to the pandemic.
