Major internship for the master program Cancer, Stem cells and Developmental Biology (CS&D) at utrecht university. During this internship we have explored the opportunities for Oxford Nanopore sequencing for research and clinics. Title internship report:"Exploration of Oxford Nanopore sequencing for clinical and research applicationsLong read sequencing on the MinION device"We have used the MinION, developed by Oxford Nanopore Technologies, to characterize structural variation in the human genome and to call variants in mitochondrial DNA. My work included both the wet-lab laboratory part as the dry-lab bioinformatic data analysis. Final grade: 8.5/10

Extended bachelor thesis internship in the department of medical genetics of the UMC Utrecht. The aim of the project was to get insight in the analysis of whole genome sequencing data. We analyzed the sequencing data of a single person and identified variants associated with the predisposition of several diseases as wel as variants that were associated with a variety phenotypic traits. Final grade: 8.7/10
