The role provided leadership to country programs in Kenya, Uganda, Malawi and Zambia to deliver high impact, cost-effective programs in Maternal & Child Health, Neglected Tropical Diseases and Clean Water reaching millions across the region. Operational and strategic leadership of Evidence Action's Dispensers for Safe Water programs in; Kenya, Uganda and Malawi. Key areas of responsibility include:- Operational oversight of Evidence Action Global Health programs in the region- Financial oversight of multiple program budgets ($20m p/a)- Full project cycle strategy development and implementation,- Technical Assistance, advocacy and government engagement- Support strategic new business development,- Support Research and Development of new interventions

Malawi

• Responsible for management and strategic leadership of the Malawi programme which serves over 600.000 clients per year through: 25 owned and operated health centres; 20 mobile clinical outreach teams and a social marketing portfolio, providing comprehensive quality health care services with a focus throughout Malawi.• Oversees an annual budget of $10 million, ensuring efficient and effective management of financial, administrative and operational resources for over 250 staff members.• Lead the Total Quality Management approach to clinical quality improvement, including; incident reporting and management, continues professional development, competency assessment and monitoring• Lead and design the country programme strategic, annual business planning process, and deliver a robust business model ensuring the ongoing growth of healthy income streams including innovative financing. • Operational management of all health service delivery mechanisms, steering on performance in quality and impact• External representation of the organisation in various fora and new- and old media• Build strong partnerships with central and local government, health professionals, businesses, peer agencies and community, including leading public sector strengthening interventions• Lead in the adoption of innovative solutions and evidence-based decision making to improve clinical quality and increase effectiveness of delivery channels and support operational research to better understand our clients and barriers to access • Successful start-up and project management of $14m USAID youth and adolescent SRHR contract

Malawi

• Provided leadership and guidance to the organisation’s Operations Directorate • Mentored and line managed seven staff members including Channel Leads and Programmes Director, responsible for effective project cycle management• Led in development quality improvement initiatives and plans, significant improvement in programmatic impact achieved through the introduction of structured performance management systems• Oversaw project implementation, strengthening systems for monitoring results. Lead on project monitoring and reporting • Managed systems for the prevention and detection of fraud • Led the implementation and monitoring of behavioural change communication interventions to drive demand for health services • Led project cycle management and donor relations for USAID, DFID, NORAD and EU funded projects• Implementation of clinical quality improvement systems and processes• Successfully designed and operationalised performance improvement strategies across all service delivery models

Papua New Guinea

• Responsible for management and strategic leadership of the PNG programme, which served over 40,000 clients per year through 4 centres and 12 mobile outreach teams in PNG. • Oversees a budget of £2.5 million, ensuring efficient and effective management of financial, administrative and logistical resources and human resource planning for 120 staff members.• Developed and delivered a robust business model based on sound financial and statistical performance data• Led new business development and partnership management• External representation of the organisation in media and stakeholder fora• Achieved a 10% year-on-year increase in output resulting in 40.000 Papua New Guinean women and girls receiving Sexual Reproductive Health services in 2015• Implemented a comprehensive anti-fraud and bribery risk mitigation strategy• Led the collaborative design of a new five-year strategy

Papua New Guinea

• Designed and implemented programme strategy• Human Resource management including; recruitment, line management, and capacity building• Managed and reported on programme budget and activities• Managed a successful surgical outreach programme delivering just under 1,000 eyesight restoring surgeries in rural areas across Papua New Guinea• Implementation of international best practice guidelines in ophthalmology

Papua New Guinea

• Managed and implemented Post Graduate Diploma in Eye Care programme• Managed key partnerships, e.g. local universities and the Ministry of Health and funders• Co-developed a new strategy for post graduate professional development • Design and delivery of the public health training curriculum
