Renovating this beautiful historical Villa was a real joy.The house originates from 1909 and is located right on the stairs to Flushing beach.It served as Family house with staff, Dormitory for the students of the De Ruyter institute after the war, Music school, church and currently as family home with guest facilities.

In the position as Commercial Director, Singapore for the Damen Shipyards Group my focus was on generating business and establishing synergies on business development within the Damen Group for the SEA market.

DAMEN Shipyards Singapore is as Shipyard specialized in fabrication of aluminium vessels up to 55m. Typical products are: Fast Ferries, Offshore Fast Crew Boats, Patrol craft, interceptors and windfarm maintenance vessels. On the Yard there are also facilities for repair, conversion and maintenance jobs. Over a period of 5 years the following transitions have been achieved in line with corporate goals:>The safety performance has been improved from average to top performer(< 1LTI /yr). This has been achieved by mapping and steering on safety culture within the company, mainly focussing on involving all staff and introducing accountability and ownership on this topic. >In 2012 the Yard was gearing up from close to idle to running full capacity in 2014/2015, while staying within budget and maintaining reliability in delivery times. At the peak a daily workforce was present at the Yard of close to 500 pax and annual deliveries of 10 - 15 ships next to some 100 Repair jobs.>Implementation of a common ERP system used by the Damen Group. This was a major change in working for the organization in Singapore and HQ.>The engagement of the staff has been improved with double digits, shown from the bi-annual engagement survey within the Damen Group. This was achieved by the roll out of a comprehensive leadership development program. A value based company culture was achieved (open, proactive, goal focussed, committed and connected). This had a noticeable effect on performances of project teams as well as the quality of delivered vessels.As managing director it was inspiring to work with staff and management to achieve the above, open communication and enabling all team members to perform their best is my style.
