SW/FW Technical Lead on a mmWave Communications R&D effort: - Led a team of 3 developers and 1 system test engineer to integrate different mmWave RF front-ends with a variety of baseband transceivers. - Responsible for defining the SW/FW architecture to allow for seamless transition of the R&D effort into a mature product offering.2. SW/FW Technical Lead on a ground-based EW product: - Brought stability and discipline to an initial R&D effort to allow for maturity into a product. - Led a team of 4 developers and 2 system test engineers to eliminate major SW and FW bugs and implement much needed enhancements. - Directly resulted in major follow-on orders of system. - Considered product SME throughout the company and among customers.3. Implemented security features on an airborne-based EW product, making use of standard security practices and a COTS TPM hardware module. - Defined messaging between GUI and embedded software to define and enforce “trust”. - Wrote u-boot driver from scratch and corresponding Linux userspace application (by leveraging spidev in Linux). - Implemented GUI portion to interface with embedded software.

Optimized over the air firmware upgrade for one of the VAC4 processors, which cut down the time of an upgrade from numerous hours to ten minutes.Revamped the onboard storage of new firmware and upgrade process on the VAC4 from a static to a dynamic architecture, resulting in the possibility of upgrading any processor. Worked with the hardware team, the test team, and the software team to recommend design optimizations and identify bugs in the VMS system.

Successfully implemented P25 Digital Fixed Station Interface (TIA standard 102.BAHA) for host side. Also implemented Fixed Station simulator to interact with Etherstack products making use of P25 DFSI. Member of team to develop gateway software to interface Cisco IPICS software (translate data across waveforms with IP backbone) with Etherstack P25 products.Designed, implemented, and tested L3 code for DMR BS stack. Evaluated and troubleshooted L1 and L2 code.

Principal Investigator and Project Manager of Cognitive Communications Gateway Engine (CCGE), a gateway to support video streaming, video chat, and VoIP translation across disparate government and commercial waveforms. Waveforms are FlexNet-Waveform (FN-WF), 802.11, and Wideband HF (WBHF). Development conducted on Rockwell-Collins' FlexNet-4 SDR. Prinicpal Investigator of Optimized Demodulation Techniques, an effort to research the use of cyclostationary-based waveform classification techniques to facilitate successful demodulation of a signal in the midst of interferers. Implemented 802.11a and FM3TR modulator and demodulator pairs. Implemented and evaluated frequency shift (FRESH) filtering and Parallel Interference Cancellation (PIC) methods on 802.11a and FM3TR.Lead Engineer of Advanced Mapping and Positioning System (AMPS), an Army sponsored project to use multiple sensor modalities and data fusion methodologies to create floorplans to provide enhanced situational awareness for tactical missions.Principal Investigator of Manycore Adaptive Software Radar (MASR), a project sponsored by the Missile Defense Agency to create a scalable radar receiver using hybrid processor schemes (Multicore-FPGA). Continuously wrote technical proposals for military sponsored SBIRs and STTRs in the fields of cognitive radio, multi-sensor data fusion, radar applications, and wireless communications in general.Proposals selected for projects resulted in over $1 million in funding.
