Graduate Teaching Associate - Human Anatomy (Lead, Serve, Inspire Md Curriculum)
My primary role was to facilitate learning of human anatomy on donors that the students dissect under my supervision. Outside of scheduled laboratory sessions, I was responsible for holding weekly in-person office hours (which I supplemented with 3D anatomy software) and preparing and proctoring practical exams. As the head GTA from SU22 to present, I also: (1) developed a comprehensive cadaveric atlas which plays on the TV screens while students dissect; (2) developed interactive PowerPoint/web-based modules with illustrated images, cadaveric images, and board-style practice questions that students can reference outside of the lab; (3) assisted with recording 10+ hours of anatomy review videos on cadaveric dissections; (4) reviewed practice questions developed by the Peer/Professionally Reviewed Exam Practice (PREP) team, and; (5) updated the anatomy topic sheets to hyperlink each structure to its corresponding 3D model in VH Dissector
Graduate Teaching Associate - Musculoskeletal Anatomy (Anatomy 6000)
My primary responsibilities were to facilitate learning of human anatomy on donors that the physical and occupational therapy students dissected under my supervision, demonstrate cadaveric prosection tours, hold weekly in-person hours, and prepare and proctor practical and written exams. In addition, I was involved in leading optional anatomy workshops for the previous cohort of physical therapy and occupational therapy students who were unable to dissect due to COVID-19 restrictions. In these sessions, I used cadaveric prosections of the upper and lower extremities to facilitate discussions on both general anatomy and clinical correlates relevant to their future careers.
Graduate Teaching Associate - Learning Anatomy Through Dissection (Anat 5300)
My primary responsibility was to facilitate the learning of human anatomy through the complete dissection of a human cadaver. During these sessions, I encouraged my students to feel each individual structure, pull on muscles to better understand their actions, explore the effects of pathological processes, and encouraged them to become familiar with the anatomical variations seen in the donors. In the following academic school year, the donor that my group dissected was used to teach anatomy to over 1000 students in ANAT 3300 and ANAT 2300.
Graduate Teaching Associate - Advanced Human Anatomy (Anat 3300) And Human Anatomy (Anat 2300)
My primary responsibility was to facilitate learning of human anatomy using cadaveric specimens and anatomical models, although I also incorporated 3D anatomy software into the sessions. Through these sessions, I was able to supply the students with practice questions, provide formative feedback on all answer choices, and incorporate clinical examples relevant to their future careers. Additionally, I supervised undergraduate teaching assistants, responded to student questions via email, made myself available for one-on-one consultation, and proctored and graded written and practical exams. At the end of the academic year, I was responsible for procuring brains from the donors so that they could be used in the graduate human neuroanatomy course. Finally, I was personally responsible for performing a complete dissection of a human cadaver; this 100+ hour dissection was used to facilitate the learning of human anatomy at The Ohio State University at Lima during the AU21, SP22, and SU22 semesters.
