Our goal is to establish our rapport as industry’s leading group for high performance wire-line products.So far, I have helped my group at Broadcom introduce innovative products by designing, verifying, and testing robust and novel designs to Broadcom’s best-selling wireline chips including: • Low voltage MIPI MPHY compliant line driver/transmitter and high-speed serializer. • Low power serializer, low latency auxiliary serializer and clocking circuits for Broadcom’s most widely employed 10GbE PHY. • High frequency clock distribution circuits (including electromagnetic characterization and simulation of clock delivery structures) and timing calibration circuits for 100Gbps ADCs. • Clocking circuits, phase interpolators, ultra-low power signal detection circuits, and duty cycle control circuits for multi-standard chips in 5Gbps and 10Gbps broadband systems.♦ Accomplished a DigRF transmitter IP acquisition for high-end smart phone chips by carefully importing the IP to Broadcom technology and successfully verifying and testing it according to the DigRF standard.♦ Streamlined design and test processes by cross-coordinating with layout and test engineers.

I worked on the design, fabrication and testing of millimeter-wave frequency synthesizers, high performance ring oscillators, and phase locked loops for wireless communication applications. I proposed a new architecture and design approach for the realization of wideband millimeter-wave frequency synthesizers. This architecture uses two-step multi-order harmonic generation of a low frequency phase-locked signal to generate wideband mm-wave frequencies. I designed, fabricated and tested a prototype in 90nm CMOS. A very wide tuning range of 5 to 32 GHz was achieved with state of the art power consumption. I also developed the “N-Push cyclic coupled ring oscillator” (CCRO) architecture to implement two high performance oscillators: (1) a wideband N-Push/M-Push CCRO operating from 3.16–12.8GHz implemented by two harmonic generation operations using the availability of different phases from the CCRO, and (2) a 13–25GHz millimeter-wave N-Push CCRO with a low phase noise performance. The proposed oscillators achieve low phase noise with higher FOM than state of the art work. In addition, I worked with teammates to develop two novel techniques to reduce the reference spur of integer-N charge-pump based PLLs. We also designed a low power PLL (600µW) targeting the Medical Implantable Communication Standard. My PhD work resulted in numerous published journal and conference papers. In addition, it was invited to be presented at the RFIC 2012 symposium.

I have helped my group at Texas Instrument by executing exceptional people-and-project-management:♦ Assisted electronic design automation engineers in developing Perl automation scripts for new technology nodes to improve circuit reliability.♦ Streamlined system reliability tools flow to enable wide scale use by circuit designers by: • Conducting consultations with tool developers across USA and India to understand primary infrastructure and software tool requirements • Designing and developing a unified Cadence SKILL powered infrastructure to integrate these tools. ♦ Trained a group of 30 circuit design engineers on the developed reliability tool flow by developing comprehensive test cases and visual illustrations. ♦ Invited to present this work at the Texas Instruments Symposium on Reliability.
