Hello, my name is Mabe Kyle and I'm a proud transgender neurodivergent person who cares deeply about disability justice, collective liberation and anti-oppression. I'm currently living on the Haldimand Tract on the territory of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, and Attawandaron peoples.I'm a creative professional with a passion for wellbeing and self expression who has practiced and honed their skills in six countries. With a strong foundation in social justice and leadership experiences, my open mindedness and active engagement in continued learning, enables me to have a unique perspective to problem solving and the development of communities.I am passionate about grassroots organizing and am a co-founder and executive member for the Rural Ontario Community of Queer Youth and for Brant County Pride. I have received several different community project grants to spearhead initiatives that facilitate spaces of belonging, art, and wellbeing in both virtual and in-person settings. I lead workshops ranging in size from one person to one hundred people including at libraries, conferences, high schools, and social service agencies. I have worked directly with all ages, Indigenous people in rural, remote, and urban areas, immigrants, disabled people, the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, survivors of sexual assault, unsheltered people, people with concurrent disorders, and people who have been criminalized.I have been recognized as a Community Changemaker by 880 Cities and the Ontario Rural Institute as well as an Emerging Social Innovator by Nowly Insurance for the work that I've done. I was featured as a "Person of Brant" this year in June and was interviewed by CBC Radio in Eastern Ontario, Northern Ontario, and London area. I have also been a guest for various podcasts related to rural communities and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.I have shared my art internationally including on the radio in Jamaica and at a spoken word competition in India. Locally I've been invited to read my poetry for the Riverside Reading Series, Lakeshore Arts, Unity Charity Fest, and Toronto Pride. I have also performed drag at various events across the province. As an art entrepreneur I've sold my art at various community markets across southwestern Ontario. I have published my poetry in zines, magazines, newspapers, anthologies, and an academic journal.Through my work I've developed skills in many areas including project management, event planning, communication, leadership, administration, facilitation, education, outreach, conflict resolution, innovation, relationship building and more.
