I am an entrepreneur at heart and have started ventures in Germany, the United States, Canada and across Asia.In 2002, I started PayPal Germany. Together with my team, we designed and implemented what is today a highly profitable domestic online payment solution to rival the free bank transfers long offered by German banks. I later ran Payments in South East Asia and the Pacific for eBay/PayPal.In 2005, I was invited to join the founding team of Falconhenge Partners, a New York City based long/short equities hedge fund. We folded this fund into Magnetar Capital in 2006 where I helped establish the London and Tokyo offices.In 2008, I co-founded Hedgeye Risk Management where we are democratizing access to independent investment research. Focused exclusively on generating and delivering investment ideas in a proven buy-side process, the firm combines quantitative, bottom-up and macro analysis with an emphasis on timing. The Hedgeye team features some of the world’s most highly regarded research analysts, with extensive buy-side experience, covering Macro, Financials, Housing, Materials, Energy, Healthcare, Retail, Gaming, Lodging & Leisure (GLL), Restaurants, Cannabis, Industrials, Consumer Staples, Communications, Global Technology, Washington policy analysis, Legal Catalysts, Demography and Social Intelligence.And at the beginning of 2014, I co-founded Firefly Space Systems. We designed and developed a family of small satellite launchers and won a contract from NASA under the Venture Class Launch Services program and a number of significant contracts from DARPA. We raised over $30M, including from Paul Allen's Vulcan Aerospace and grew the company to 185 employee. We developed a test facility north of Austin, TX and designed and built novel propulsion & GNC components while using cutting edge carbon composite structures for our vehicles.
