I am a well-established, driven and entrepreneurial Executive and Non-Executive Director with extensive experience in infrastructure, transformation, start-ups and M&A. Industry experience covers renewable energy, transportation, oil and gas, utilities and energy across the UK, Europe, Africa, North and South America. Core expertise includes business strategy, delivery of complex projects, transformations and culture change programmes as well as leading significant departments and companies. My people leadership is oriented towards safety, quality and productivity and I have instigated initiatives that have contributed to significant organisational improvements such as profitable growth, efficiency and customer satisfaction. I led the devolution of Maintenance organisation from a functional to a geographical structure. The devolution created a central organisation with a customer focus ethos providing innovation, telecoms, design, signalling, construction, property management and aviation services along with business transformation and safety assurance. I had overall P&L responsibility for the Maintenance Division as well as the Digitisation of the organisation.o Directed Maintenance activity of the national network, negotiating with regulators, government, trade unions and customers. o Responsible for the apprenticeship programme with 200 new entrants per annum. I modified the training ethos to focus on behaviours and mindset as well as on technical training, which was subsequently expanded to include leadership level. o Introduced the biggest change to terms and conditions, technology and working methods for a generation resulting in overall savings in NR operational costs and improved network system safety. The technology, assurance process, agreed T&Cs and structure are still in place today and form a key part of the maintenance activity and assurance process of the UK rail network. o Improved the transport system safety by deploying new technology as well as improving asset maintenance and inspections. Received the two awards at the National Rail Awards (2013) for the Innovation of the Year and Team of the Year. o Successfully created an international bespoke signalling service generating £10m in revenues from Ireland and Poland as well as enabling the collection of pricing information for regulator negotiations.

    The Sussex route had a very poor asset reliability and punctuality performance which required monthly visits to the Transport Secretary and Southern TOC MD. I led a programme which delivered significant improvements in asset reliability along with Southern and FCC PPM increase. This was achieved by adopting the RATER Model to improve customer service and an asset management strategy to reduce asset failures by half. o Responsible for the Sussex network with a total budget of £180m and a team of 1200 personnel working on maintenance, renewals and railway operations. Sussex is the busiest section in the rail network. o Reduced overall operational costs by £17m by reducing overheads, deploying new technologies and introducing optimised maintenance regimes to improve asset reliability and productivity. Asset failures reduced by a half and our customers achieved the best punctuality performance. o Through face-to-face engagement with colleagues I was able to obtain “buy-in” for our strategy of improving the rail service for our clients/passengers and, at the same time, achieving a world class engagement score of 85% response rate and 4.12 weighting. o After a very challenging start, my department was the best performing at year end with an increased enhancement workload, improved safety performance which exceeded our punctuality targets. o Responsible for enhancement budget of £230m which included the Gatwick Airport Station interchange.
