I am Margaret Alice “Mac” Cooper. I started playing the cornet in 6th grade over 50 years ago and I have been in love with all things brass ever since.I began my training as a brass player in Abilene, Texas. I graduated from Big Spring High School in Big Spring, Texas in 1968. I have Bachelor of Music Education degree from West Texas A&M University (1972) and a Master of Science in Music Teaching from Indiana State University (1991). I have also studied trumpet and music education at Texas Tech University (1975-76, 1980-81).I have 36 years of experience teaching music and band in small schools in Texas and New Mexico. My band students at all levels have won honors including membership in the ATSSB all state band and top ratings at state level solo and ensemble competitions.With trumpetsandbrass.com, I hope to share information about brass instruments, the people who design them, build them, sell them, collect them, compose music for them and especially those everyday people who play them just for the love of it, as well as, provide a variety of high quality instruments, accessories and music.
