Field Engineer (April 2017 – August 2017) Southwest Calgary Ring Road (SWCRR), Alberta Transportation, Calgary, $1.42 BillionField Engineer - I was responsible for assisting in various earthwork operations for preliminary work on the project. This included access/haul road construction and structural excavation for bridge construction. In this role, I was also responsible for planning and starting up the Base Rock operation for the project. This required design coordination, crew and equipment make-up, work plan creation, and all other aspects of starting up a major operation.The Southwest Calgary Ring Road (SWCRR) will be built between Highway 8 (near Elbow Springs Golf Course) and Macleod Trail SE. The project includes reconstruction of Glenmore Trail between Sarcee Trail and east of 37 Street SW. The project includes 31 kilometres of six- and eight-lane divided highway, 14 interchanges, one road flyover, one railway crossing (flyover), 47 bridges, one culvert set, one tunnel, and three river crossings over the Elbow River and Fish Creek.

This required searching out potential buyers, researching & negotiating prices, storing the items until a future home has been found, and managing the logistics of loading and transporting these items.Laydown Yard Manager - Managing two foremen and their crews (9 total reports), I was responsible for the logistics of storing and transporting large construction material and all other aspects of maintaining the project’s 12 acre yard. Site Services Manager – My responsibilities included managing the contracts, subcontractor crews, scheduling and cost of many of the site services on the project. These services include: levee maintenance, waste management, portable toilets management, water & ice supply, janitorial services for the site offices, and miscellaneous maintenance around the job sites required to keep everything running smoothly.Warehouse Manager - I was responsible for the requisition, storing, supplying, and delivery of small tools, supplies, and various other essential materials for the job. This included the management of the Warehouse yard and crew.This design-build project consisted of constructing pumping stations and permanent storm surge barriers at the mouth of three separate outfall canals in the city of New Orleans. These barriers will prevent storm surges from entering the canals, thus greatly reducing the risk of flooding in the city, while pumping out excess rainwater from within the city. This is the final project in the Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS) authorized by Congress after the Hurricane Katrina disaster.

My focus was mainly on deck finishes ranging from pouring the parapet to installing the sidewalk fence, finishing off with closing out punch list items. I was also responsible for the schedule, planning the work, tracking costs, and all aspects of supervising a crew with regards to safety, quality, and environment.Segment Erect Engineer – I was responsible for assisting the night shift segment erect superintendent with planning and executing everything required for completing the segment erection work on the new Port Mann Bridge. A major task I was responsible for was the hauling of the segments from the precast yard to the bridge site where I ran the crew and supervised the operation of loading and transporting the segments.Office Engineer - My responsibilities included assisting the project engineer in developing and compiling weekly and monthly reports. These include the cost report, LDR, draw requests, and forecasting. I was also tasked with various other projects, such as, First Nations hour tracking and assisting with quarterly audits.This design-build job included improvements to a 37 km section of the Highway 1 corridor, and construction of the new Port Mann Bridge. The project included adding one lane in each direction west of the new Fraser River Crossing and two lanes in each direction east of the crossing with significant upgrades to approximately 10 interchanges. The signature feature of the project is the new 10-lane, 2.3km-long, cable-stayed Port Mann Bridge over the Fraser River. It included an 850m main span as well as two complex approach bridges.
