Mac graduated from Mississippi College in 1997, earning a B.S.B.A. He received his Juris Doctorate from the Mississippi College School of Law in 2000, where he was a Hearin Hess Scholar and served on the Moot Court Board. Following law school, Mac served as a law clerk to the late Honorable Judge William H. Myers on the Mississippi Court of Appeals.In January 2015, after 14 years in private practice, Mac accepted a position as a Special Assistant Attorney General at the Mississippi Attorney General’s office. There, he primarily defended state agencies and employees in civil rights litigation.From June 2020 to December 2023, Mac served as Chief Counsel for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. MDPS houses eleven statewide divisions and bureaus, including the Highway Patrol, the Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Narcotics, Capitol Police, and the Office of Homeland Security.Mac now serves as Associate General Counsel at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he provides legal counsel on matters involving litigation and is the primary point of contact with outside counsel representing the institution on a variety of employment, tort, and other litigation matters. He also advises UMMC faculty, staff and law enforcement on managing legal risk.
