I founded Umbrella Trekking Nepal, a non-profit tour company that takes guests on exciting adventures in the Himalayas. All profits go to the charity The Umbrella Foundation, and each trip provides an opportunity for disadvantaged youth to get work experience and training. I quickly learnt about sales, distribution, marketing, guest communications and management, supplier management and everything in between.My experience with Umbrella Trekking was very rewarding but often frustrating. I was responsible for the full finance function of the Aged Care business.As a new facility, there was a lot of operating systems design and implementation required, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I worked remote to the facility, out of a small office in Melbourne with a large team of health care professionals. The role involved a lot of interaction with resident's families, and it taught me the importance of process and dependability in a heavily legislative environment.
