The NC Center on the Workforce for Health focuses on developing and deploying comprehensive strategies to address the state’s worsening health care worker shortages. In early 2021, NC AHEC, NCIOM, and the Sheps Center Program on Health Workforce Research and Policy began developing a concept for a statewide center focused on the collaborative and comprehensive development of North Carolina’s workforce for health. The NC Center on the Workforce for Health will provide a forum for health employers, workers, educators, regulators, policymakers, and others throughout North Carolina to convene, discuss challenges and opportunities, share best practices and lessons learned, identify potential solutions and metrics for success, and monitor progress toward addressing these challenges. North Carolina’s historic, persistent, and worsening health workforce shortages can best be addressed through intentional, transparent, and collaborative engagement by the communities interested in solving those problems.

Oversee policy, planning, and reporting for NC Pandemic Recovery Office. Working to understand the impacts of the pandemic, assess $110B+ in federal aid and identify ongoing and emerging recovery priorities.

The NC Pandemic Recovery Office was created to oversee and coordinate the state's multi-billion dollar response to the COVID-19 public health crisis. I lead the agency’s education work, focusing on funding, programs, and policies affecting the wellbeing and success of students and educators. The portfolio includes $10B in federal funds to stabilize and strengthen the full education continuum, from early childhood through postsecondary education.

Launched an independent consultancy dedicated to supporting policy research, project planning, organizational development, and advocacy efforts among purpose-driven people and organizations. My work included projects with the NC Office of Strategic Partnerships, EducationNC, and the Hunt Institute.

I co-founded the National Campus Leadership Council to make sure higher ed policy keeps up with today's student needs. We believe stronger student voice is the ticket to better policy design and implementation. That is why we have (1) built a community of major federal, state, and institutional higher education leaders focused on student voice and (2) trained more than 5,000 elected collegiate student leaders to be more informed and effective policy stakeholders on campus and beyond.Since 2012, we've built NCLC into a nationally recognized organization with significant impact and reach throughout higher ed. NCLC has trained, connected, and supported thousands of SGA presidents from more than 500 colleges nationwide. In addition to our policy and leadership trainings, NCLC has developed groundbreaking research about the influence of student voice in policy-making and built a national policy coalition of statewide student associations representing more than 6.1 million student nationwide.I helped the White House launch two major intiatives by introducing President Obama at an event announcing executive action to support student loan borrowers (2014) and helping plan the It's On Us campaign to end campus sexual assault (now a project of Civic Nation).

Provided support to the organization's policy team by conducting research on timely smart growth and transportation policy issues, including performance metrics, legislative activity, and issue monitoring.
