CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERUsing Joe's experience as Co-Chair of a national CPA firm for many years and advising prominent and/or creating products publishers in the legal industry, Joe is responsible for identifying and implementing best practices, including those from other industries not yet adopted by law firms. Joe has been involved in about 20 professional firm mergers, including about half where he was a principal in the merger. Joe has significant experience developing guidance and due diligence systems for professionals and worked with numerous authors and had a column in a newspaper for the accounting industry.LITIGATION SUPPORTThe firm also uses Joe's experience chairing a tribunal and writing hundreds of decisions based on law, regulations and precedents. Each of those decisions were subject to appeal to courts in Canada. Joe has provided litigation support to other law firms and also provided support with respect professional conduct matters.

PricewaterhouseCoopers started me, as a CPA student, customizing and implementing systems for accounting firms and their clients in the early 1980s. Among other things, systems I develop help accountants prepare financial statements for public companies and not-for-profits (NPOs) and prepare Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) for public companies. In the 1990s, I wrote and gave a presentation “Artificial Intelligence, the Future of Electronic Libraries”. Today several products are based on the presentation, updated for today’s millennial workforce. In the 2000s, I initiated the formation of the first new Canadian National CPA firm in decades.In the 2010s I served as the Co-Chair. I was responsible for recruiting offices and partners, firm information technology (IT), attending the federal budget lockups and provided guidance to partners. During my leadership, the firm grew from one office to seven offices with 120 people across Canada, implemented cloud computing and setup operations in the Philippines.CPAs have used me to assist on professional conduct matters. In 2016, I successfully managed the appeal of a decision by a provincial CPA Professional Conduct Committee.My experience, writing CaseWare / CaseView expert checklists for ASPE, Corporate Tax and serving as the second partner helps organizations to identify and research key issues or simply resolve issues with minimal or no assistance or direction provided.As a volunteer board member, I identified opportunities to permanently increase annual government funding by several hundred thousand dollars for an NPO serving people with mobility disabilities. Together, with a fellow board member and senior management, we obtained the funding.
