There was also the opening of the Ordway Concert Hall—a vision realized by an Arts Partnership comprised of the Ordway, The Schubert Club, Minnesota Opera and The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. The new hall opened on March 1 with Rock the Ordway—a “22 days of opening nights” celebration—and rave reviews. The Pioneer Press called the Concert Hall “an acoustic wonderland,” and the Star Tribune claimed it had “polished St. Paul’s reputation as an arts and culture hub.” An earlier Ordway investment in the new musical An American in Paris (an adaptation of the movie) will lead to the show’s national tour. It opened in Paris in December, and after moving to Broadway in April The New York Times called the musical a “gorgeously danced—and just plain gorgeous— production.”An American in Paris garnered 12 Tony nominations and won four, including for best choreography.
