I was involved in setting up a new commercial law firm from the outset, from locating office premises to implementing IT systems and equipment, a new website and a legal client management system. My role initially included all aspects of running a small firm, from accounts, compliance procedures and policies, event management, HR and general office.

• Leeds Law Society (LLS) is a not-for-profit membership organisation for solicitors in Leeds, run by a small executive team and supported by a board of (volunteer) directors.I work with the directors and staff to.
• Managing the Leeds Law Society office and ensuring the organisational effectiveness of office operations with responsibility for personnel, policies, procedures, data and equipment.
• Coordinating the planning, resourcing and delivery of social, professional and inter-professional events.
• Creating strategic relationships and working collaboratively with legal professionals and external organisations including charities, sponsors, service providers and other professional bodies.
• Maximising marketing and communication opportunities; designing and delivering email campaigns, maintaining the LLS website, supplying copy for the Leeds and Yorkshire Lawyer magazine and using social media to promote.
• Sourcing relevant benefits and services to increase the value of membership across a diverse profession.

As the range of services being delivered by the Society increased and a second executive was recruited, my role developed to include more income generation to support greater activity, increased marketing via new email campaigns and the development and delivery of a new website.

In the first executive position created for developing and modernising the Society, I began by sourcing relevant benefits and organising events such as CPD training and the Annual Dinner. Prior to this I worked in the insurance/financial sector.
