In September of 2012, I joined the active duty component of the United States Air Force as a Medical Technician. During my time in training, I became a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician, Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certified, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certified. Throughout my career, I have attained direct patient care experience in family practice, neurology, pediatrics, and emergency medicine. The military has allowed me to obtain many important professional skills, such as integrity, ambition, and how to lead and inspire.In 2016, I decided to switch to the Idaho Air National Guard side of the Air Force to focus on my education. I graduated from Boise State University in December, 2018 with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science and a minor in Psychology. My education has greatly enhanced my knowledge about both clinical medicine and the United State's healthcare system as a whole. Much of my coursework consisted of hard sciences, healthcare administration, mental health, and public health.Deciding to pursue my education further, I attained my second Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS). I graduated with this degree and completed a six-month internship at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery, AL in July 2021. Additionally, I am in the final semester of my master's degree in Microbiology and Cell Science. I will complete this degree in the fall (2021).My experience and education together have taught me much about the professional world and what it takes to succeed. I am confident that the skills I have learned will help me throughout my career. Currently, I am seeking a role as a microbiologist.
