Can write for any audience, for the technically competent or for the average Joe.EXPERIENCEAfter graduation in December of 2019, I joined Optoglo Inc. as my first major engineering position. At the time the company didn't even have 10 employees. I worked on a small team to develop the second and third version of Optoglo's core product set: the super-thin solar powered glowing sign. The resulting product was a major success among investors and prospective customers, and contributed to Optoglo's rapid growth as a company.After the design goals were met, I transitioned to setting up QC and assembly processes for a burgeoning factory floor. I researched, developed and successfully implemented ESD procedures to protect sensitive electronics from the unavoidable generation of electrostatic charges inherent to the process. I also set up safety and quality procedures to verify electronic components before assembly.To support the needs of the growing factory, I also ran small scale production of PCBs using a Neoden 4 pick & place line, from initial setup and programming of the machine, to solder application, assembly, inspection, reflow, and rework. Once the needs of the factory outgrew our production capacity, I worked with third party vendors to assemble medium-volume quantities of our electronics.Finally, I worked with a third party engineering team to develop future versions of the product set, and with their help, automated large sections of the electronics QC process in the form of an easy-to-use test fixture.
