Thesis:Enhancing Fixed-Wavelength H2O Absorption Thermometry Systems for use at Combustion ConditionsProjects:• Researched, and developed an approach to construct a H2O-, CO2-, & N2- perturbed H2O spectral absorption cross-section database that covers 1000 – 2100 K and 0.5 – 50 bar ranges to enhance H2O absorption thermometry systems at combustion conditions.• High temperature optical thermocouple probes: researched, developed, and procured two prototype optical sapphire probes, one monolithic and the other two-piece. Sapphire probes based on etalon and absorption spectroscopy phenomenon.• Optical System for probes: researched, developed, procured, and assembled a parabolic reflector based optic system.• Fixed-wavelength H2O absorption spectroscopy system enhanced by an on-board external-cavity diode laser: researched, developed, procured, and implemented a hybrid fixed (DFB) & scanned (ECDL) wavelength system for ratiometric thermometry.• Low noise fiber pigtailed photodiode: researched, developed, procured, and tested a prototype multi mode fiber based photodiode in collaboration with GPD Optoelectronics Corp.• Demonstration of temperature imaging by H2O absorption spectroscopy using compressed sensing tomography: researched, developed, procured, assembled, and tested the electro-opto-mechanical system as well as the heated disk test article.• Produced prototype run of SM and MM fiber fused lenses using a 3SEA Fiber Optic Processor.• Operated and calibrated mass flow controllers for use with a Hencken flame to perform laser diagnostics.• Constructed a long flame facility: Meter long propane-air flame run on mass flow controllers.

As a Plant Systems Engineer I worked with occupants to assess their current and future issues they have with their research facilities. Based on our assessment, I defined scopes of work, performed walk downs, selected components based on engineering calculations, created installation drawings, and generated work orders for installation of the particular system. I worked closely with a diverse team of mechanical, civil, electrical, control, and waste management engineers. Projects:• Wrote the installation work orders for the replacement of boilers and an industrial air conditioner• Procured and implemented HVAC system design software for the group• Designed and wrote the installation work orders for a liquid nitrogen filling system and a building wide reverse osmosis/de-ionized water system.
