Role expanded in October 2016 to include oversight of Information Technology, management liaison to the staff union, and coordinator of enterprise risk management initiatives. Oversight of Human Resources also added in October 2016 (lasting through September 2022).

Responsible for setting data integrity standards for the campus's financial, human resources, and student data systems. Extensively collaborated with colleagues on campus and across the UMass system relative to setting common standards for shared data systems. Managed a staff of two.

Tested various technologies to improve report delivery.Heavily involved in developing the campus's nascent data administration structure. Served as chairman of the campus HR data working group (1990 - 1992). Proposed creation of a formal campus data administration function. (This proposal was adopted by senior management. I subsequently became first head of the data administration office in 1994.)
