What is a Doula?A birth doula is a trained professional who supports parents throughout pregnancy, birth, and the initial postpartum period in a non-medical capacity. A doula provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to help parents prepare for birth and achieve a healthy and satisfying birth experience. During active labor, a doula is present either at home, a hospital, or a birthing center to provide various comfort measures to the birthing individual. Doulas will also act as an advocate in the birthing space to promote a safe and respectful birth environment.
