I am a passionate Kentuckian pursuing a career in environmental justice, law, and policy. I recently graduated from the School of Environment and Sustainability at the University of Cincinnati, where I pursued an Environmental Studies degree with a Communications minor. Through my program, I had the opportunity to connect with professors, local advocates, and community members involved in issues around preservation, access to green space, and environmental justice.I am a community organizer for the Coalition for Transit and Sustainable Development with the Devou Good Foundation. Through this role, I amplify and strategize with ongoing advocacy efforts for sustainable transportation, urban and environmental equity, and fair representation in transportation funding/decision-making.In the fall of 2025, I plan on attending law school to further advance my career goals and, ultimately, create substantial & systematic change to the disproportional environmental issues affecting the livelihood, health, and well-being of marginalized communities in the US.Feel free to contact me at mackenzieamason22@gmail.com with opportunities, questions, or connections!

Part of my responsibilities as club President included connecting and coordinating with other local community organizations in the area, specifically those focused on environmental and preservation issues. I was also in charge of leading communication and coordination on events like Spring Fest in Burnet Woods. Msdgc Communications InternCity Of Cincinnati May 2023 - Aug 2023Cincinnati, Ohio, United StatesI worked as an intern under the Office of the Director as a communications person at the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD). There, I was able to learn about different policies, developments, and operations that happened at MSD. On top of learning the chemical and biological process of how the sewage system works, some opportunities I got to experience included sitting in on meetings and learning how to communicate complex developments like an anaerobic digestor to citizens, learning how to use graphic design tools like Adobe to create effective maps and graphics that were easily digestible and captivating, learning out to format and write press releases and newsletters to update new projects/happenings internally and externally, organizing and tabling at community outreach events with partners like the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission and the Mill Creek Alliance, and shadowing/assisting in the development of a new website design from MSD. Through this experience, I learned a lot of hard and soft skills that I can apply to my future career. -
