Chiropractic Assistant
CurrentStarting this position as a co-op student, the job entailed assisting with in-patient care by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and preparing patients for treatment. I was tasked with providing heat to affected areas, electromagnetic therapies and other modalities while observing the chiropractic doctor during treatments as they demonstrated techniques used in spinal manipulations, soft tissue therapies and other chiropractic procedures. I was also trusted to assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and billing which offered great exposure to office management that provided essential organizational skills required by any healthcare setting. Working at a chiropractic clinic as a coop student offers numerous opportunities for growth and demonstration of skills/knowledge and I was honoured to become a part of the staff after the placement had finished.
