Working with the newly launched Brown School Evaluation Center. As project coordinator, I work on a number of evaluation projects and assist with proposal development and center operations. Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day activities of projects, supervision of research assistants, oversight of data collection and analyses, and development of evaluation reports and other products.

Assisted Dr. Peg Allen on completing observations and in-person interviews for a CDC funded project entitled the Development of an Evidence-Informed Mall Walking Program Resource Guide. Also participated as a member of Project STRIDE in coding and reviewing local health department strategic plans and progress reports and developing summary reports for Project STRIDE health departments.

Collaborated on an annual review document aimed at analyzing the ‘double-disparity’ faced by rural health departments. Completed a case study and research brief on current e-cigarette policies in Chicago and the use of social media for public health information dissemination. Research was published in Journal of Medical Internet Research.

Chosen out of more than 600 applicants through USAID Africa Bureau Internship Program. Assisted partner agency in developing measurement tools for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Life Skills programs. Facilitated group therapy sessions, ran individual meetings, performed intake assessments, participated in treatment team meetings, and completed all required paperwork. Asked to work one-on-one with Spanish speaking client due to lack of Spanish language skills within the agency.

Assisted Prof. Janet Casey in developing a faculty civic engagement program; conducted comparative research on peer institutions to identify best practices, reviewed newsletters for workshops and programs for faculty, assisted in coordinating retreats for professors

Developed and executed lessons for English as a Second Language students. Was responsible for both curriculum development and implementation. Advocated and translated for Latino workers by connecting clients with local educational, medical, and immigration services on a daily basis.

Collaborated with 2 other students in order to develop and administer a needs based survey in 3 local mobile home parks. Survey was aimed at assessing the general social service needs of the community and exploring how the presence of a nuclear power plant has affected the health of the residents.

Lived in Switzerland, India, China, and South Africa with host families and completed coursework in public health, qualitative research methods, and health systems.
