Feedstock Monitoring and PreheatingFeedstock Selection: I ensure the proper feedstock (ethane, propane, or naphtha) is chosen based on production needs.Preheating: The feedstock is preheated to 200-300°C before entering the furnace, and I monitor the preheater to avoid under- or overheating.2. Cracking in the FurnaceTemperature Control: The feedstock flows into furnace coils, heated to 800-900°C. I manage fuel supply and burner performance to maintain the required temperatures.Cracking: Hydrocarbons crack into smaller molecules like ethylene. I monitor flow rates and ensure proper residence time for optimal cracking.3. Quenching to Stop ReactionsRapid Cooling: After cracking, the gas is quickly cooled in the quench system to halt further reactions and prevent by-products. I oversee heat recovery for efficiency.4. Gas Compression ProcessPre-Compression: After quenching, the cracked gas at 0.9 bar is cooled before entering the first stage of the 9-stage compressor.Compression Stages: I monitor pressure, temperature, and equipment performance across each stage, cooling the gas between stages to prevent overheating.Final Compression: Gas pressure is raised to 33 bars, and I ensure stability for downstream processes, resolving any pressure fluctuations.5.
