At Hemedex, I focused on data analytics and visualization for injured brains. I worked closely with the founder and CEO, Fred Bowman, the inventor of the Hemedex Bowman Perfusion Monitor, a device for continuously measuring regional blood flow in the brain. We engaged key opinion leader neuro ICU clinicians to understand needs and deliver new cerebral multimodal monitoring solutions.My choice to join Hemedex meant leaving a senior position with a Fortune 500 technology company, where I ran one of their major business groups. Although I enjoyed success in that leadership role, I found it incredibly refreshing to join an entrepreneurial organization with a focus on making a difference in the lives of patients.

I co-founded a startup that enables healthcare enterprises to easily implement white labelled Remote Patient Monitoring systems.

One of my greatest strengths and passions is leading creative and talented people to success. At Analog, I led one of their major business groups, with full P&L responsibility and a staff including directors of technology development, product design, engineering operations, marketing, and applications. When I joined the group, the team consisted of six largely independent and geographically dispersed teams across the world. Analog had also recently completed the acquisition of Linear Technology, which added a very capable development team to the group. I restructured the organization to create a cohesive worldwide organization, resulting in a 30% improvement in product development efficiency and driving 15% growth while increasing share in our #1 market position.

In 2014, I returned to my roots as a technology strategist and architect when we moved from Boston to Atlanta for my wife's career. I focused on creating new businesses that went beyond Analog Devices' traditional hardware products businesses to include software and services. I engaged eight startups, selected two for formal partnerships, and then worked closely with them to combine their novel ideas with Analog's traditional strengths to create new products and services for monitoring industrial machines and energy systems. During this time, I became drawn to the fast pace and culture of startups. These activities became successful new ventures at Analog and resulted in the acquisition of Test Motors, one of my early startup engagements.My success in this role was driven through partnerships--with customers' technical architects, with startups, and with large research organizations. To strengthen our position in China, I spearheaded a collaboration on smart substation innovation with the China Electric Power Research Institute, the R&D arm of the largest electric utility company in the world. Closer to home, I engaged Georgia Tech to fund new research in sensor fusion for industrial machine health monitoring.

I led a development group of over 50 engineers where I drove product and technology strategy, development, and full product lifecycle management. During this time, I also initiated improvements in design verification in both my own group as well as co-founding and chairing a company-wide special interest group of over 200 participants. We secured corporate sponsorship and this resulted in the formation of a new corporate design verification organization.

I led a product line of over 30 engineers, where I redefined the focus from commodity products to differentiated innovations to grow SAM and significantly improve GM. One innovation was driven through partnership with Metroic, a startup with unique IP for energy meters that enabled a new SaaS business model. Another innovation occurred by partnering with an internal group to deliver the world's first analog front end metering chip with integrated data and power isolation.

I initiated technology strategy and business development for a portfolio of audio codecs and integrated audio ICs. This included partnering with the #1 maker of premium noise canceling headphones on the definition of a digital noise canceling IC.

During the three years I managed this portfolio of MEMS motion sensors, my highlight achievements included quadrupling annual revenue and spearheading a partnership with Nintendo to secure the motion sensor business in their revolutionary Wii game controller.

After completing a dual MBA/MSEE program at MIT, I was recruited to join the Corporate Strategic Initiatives Group at Analog Devices. I led internal consulting projects for senior managers, with a focus on strategic marketing, business development, and operating practices. For my final project I directed the definition of a novel 3-axis motion sensor for the MEMS division, which led to my next role as a product manager for this product and its associated portfolio.

I led the team responsible for the energy storage subsystem controls of a first prototype of the US Navy's Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System. I developed requirements, defined the architecture and led the detailed design and implementation of both hardware and firmware, resulting in a a successful demonstration.Originally formed from the Westinghouse Electro-Mechanical Division and engineers from the Westinghouse Science and Technology Center, this group was later acquired by Curtiss-Wright.

I led and contributed to engineering teams for development projects applying high power electronics and controls in electric utility and industrial applications. This included heading the systems integration and modeling teams on five first-of-a-kind power electronics projects, including a +/-320MVA power flow controller for American Electric Power. I was also a principal member of the design, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning teams. This group transitioned from a development to commercial product focus with its sale to Siemens in 1998.
