There are 5 components that create highly engaged high performance teams: 1) LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT (unifying principles); 2) BUY-IN (to the leader and the leader’s vision); 3) UNIFYING PURPOSE (vision/mission); 4) COMPETENCY (talent, ability, skills, knowledge); and 5) EXECUTION (by everyone at every level).Missing components lead to disengagement at many levels within an organization. When there's a culture of disengagement, there will also be a culture of frustration, resistance, confusion, and anxiety which will ultimately lead to organizational stagnation or decline. The costs of a disengaged culture are found in "The 3 Dilemmas: Engagement, Retention, & Turnover." Founding PresidentCentral Alabama Mountain Pedalers Mar 2012 - Oct 2013Chewacla State Park where we focused our volunteer efforts from 2011-2014 achieved a 65% increase in net profit in 2014 compared to 2013. Central Alabama Mountain Pedalers (CAMP) is an all volunteer 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that I helped create in early 2012. We soon grew from a start-up to 150+ members. Our initial mission was to help revitalize Chewacla State Park by designing, constructing, and maintaining multi-purpose trails. In just 6 months we had completed 15 miles of new trail that inlcuded a 92'L X 8'W X 10'H bridge to connect two pieces of property across a creek. In our first year, we also secured a $100k & $10k RTP Trail Grant. We held our first elections in late 2013 and easily filled all existing positions and added a few more. Our mission to date has been accomplished! We have made a difference at the park nearly doubling the number of visitors to the park which has significantly impacted revenues, and we have created a sustainable organization that will continue what has been started. There are plans underway to begin constructing a BMX track, skills area, and another 7+ miles of new trails in 2014!

Lean & Quality ManagerDonaldson Apr 2008 - Aug 2008Bloomington, Mn, UsLean Mgr. since March of 2007. Quality Mgr. responsibilities added April of 2008. I had dual manager roles in Lean & Quality after April. -
Lean ManagerDonaldson Mar 2007 - Apr 2008Bloomington, Mn, UsIn March of 2007, I was promoted to Lean Manager. I am currently continuing to develop a lean culture through continued training and application. I have developed a 3-level internal Lean Certification Program to help sustain our efforts to increase the lean knowledge of our workforce. I have also traveled to many of our sister plants to conduct kaizen events and offer lean training in an effort to lead them down the lean path. I am viewed as a lean leader throughout the Donaldson Company and have many requests from other plants to come lead events. -
Lean CoordinatorDonaldson Jun 2005 - Mar 2007Bloomington, Mn, UsI was responsible for determining and developing how we would begin our Lean Journey. I attended a 1 week Lean Certification Program at Auburn University/ATN. I conducted my first Kaizen event in April of 2006. It was a great success resulting in approx. $328,000 in annualized cost reduction. To date, we have conducted over 40 kaizen events resulting in approximately $6 million in annualized cost reductions. Primarily through standard work kaizen events, we transformed the entire facility from batch manufacturing to single piece flow in one year. As a result, we freed up over 50 employees and approximately 50,000 square feet of floor space within the 150,000 square foot facility.Because of our outstanding success in lean application, we have been able to bring 3 new departments and our off-site (30,000 sq.ft.) warehouse into our plant. We have added over 50 jobs in the last 1 1/2 years and have 5 less employees than we did a year and a half ago. Amazing results!! -
