Williams Advanced Materials, a subsidiary of Brush Engineered Materials, acquired Barr Associates, Inc. (my former company) in October of 2009. Williams combined Barr Associates with Thin Film Technologies, another Williams company in Buelton, California, to form Barr Precision Optics and Thin Film Materials. With the integration nearing completion, my position, as the former CFO of Barr Associates, was eliminated. I was responsible for finance and administrative functions as the new strategic business unit was being created.

Developer and manufacturer of optical thin films for infrared applications located in the U.K.

Barr was an industry leader in the manufacture of optical thin film devices for use in industrial, medical, defense, space and telecommunications applications. I managed all financial and accounting functions; human resources; information technology, facilities, and safety. I also managed the marketing efforts on an interim basis. Barr Associates was acquired by Williams Advanced Materials in October, 2009.

Worked on consulting projects and temporary assignments providing expertise in the areas of accounting, finance, planning and computer spreadsheet modeling for clients such as Lotus Development and Cyr Oil Corporation.

McDonnell Douglas, in addition to being a multi-billion dollar aerospace firm, owned several information technology businesses including Microdata (a mini-computer manufacturer); McAuto (a cad-cam software firm); Tymnet (a time-share networking company); and several related smaller businesses around the world. I was Controller for McDonnell Douglas' international computer businesses around the Pacific Rim.
