Joined Mondia as the VP Technology and shifted into the CTO function in July. I am working with a geographically disbursed team of seasoned professionals with early-days focus on various process improvements, empowering staff, and innovation - with several new services planned for the next fiscal year. I lead a team of around eighty resources that delivers turn-key content-delivery services and platforms to telcos and other entities with large consumer bases.

I was engaged to redesign a self-service version of their Cyber Maturity Assessment Tool (CSAT) product for their largest vendor/partner. The work involved creating a new frame protocol, redesigning collection and analytic components into a new stateless and secure service, refactoring survey code, and adding vulnerability enrichment services. My code contributions, team coaching, and architectural/system changes ensured on-time delivery and realized cost savings of nearly 15% of planned spending. The approach adopted also provides a path to 'upgrade' users of the self-service version into the full platform without re-scanning. I provide ongoing advisory services around architecture and platform design for three product lines - two centred on cyber maturity assessments and one on data governance.

Infocyte was a security vendor that developed a highly scalable and highly automated forensics-based malware discovery solution. It was acquired by Datto in January 2022 and rebranded Datto EDR. I lead the international team and am actively engaged in a range of activities that span sales and technical pre-sales, partner program development and management, credit risk management, product messaging, sales enablement, and support. These efforts resulted in millions of dollars in added revenue that otherwise would not have been realized.I developed the international go-to-market strategy and channel program – along with managing the team that developed international messaging and sales-enablement tools. These efforts produced more than 100 regional partners outside of the US, five large/major distributors, and three global partners including two of the big-5 consulting companies. The program was replicated and strategic partner management was shifted to staff in the US market.

I was hired to establish a cyber security program in Virgin Mobile, initially focusing on basic controls and the implementation of existing licensed controls/tools, and later focusing on and modernizing defences.I created numerous new policies, procedures, and processes to support security operations - essential tools for any security practitioner. The policy structure and approach were so effective and clear, I was asked by HR to draft/create other policies in support of their initiatives, including a new work remote working policy at the start of the Covid pandemic. I mentored two recent Emirati graduates, providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, and establishing training programs in coordination with both the commercial department and human resources departments. The students were transitioned into full-time EITC hires and largely managed the security portfolio with little day-to-day oversight after I stepped into the Interim Technology Director role.

The Technology Director role at Virgin Mobile was akin to a CTO function – it holds the final and definite responsibility for all decisions and plans made concerning any technology introduced, developed, or inherited within the organization. I oversaw and directed the work efforts of the technology team, I was the primary liaison for the department’s needs with external vendors and parties, and the chief advocate and strategist for Virgin Mobile technology within the ecosystem of EITC and with respect to Virgin Mobile Middle East and Africa. I was responsible for the technical portion of Virgin Mobile’s business strategy and worked with senior executives and middle management across the organization – and all levels across stakeholder organizations. I was measured on the ability to identify, adapt, or create technology that increases business value through intelligent investments. A primary sphere or focus was innovation and ensuring the Virgin Mobile business unit of EITC delivers incremental improvements while also identifying and exploiting opportunities for sustaining short and mid-term competitive advantages by creating and adopting emerging technologies and solutions.

CSAT is a cyber maturity assessment platform developed with the purpose of providing enterprises with a measurable way of assessing maturity by looking at existing policy-based configurations and combining them with standards-based surveys. Today, the tooling is heavily licensed by Microsoft for use by their partner network to drive added-sales. The tool was acquired by QS Solutions in the summer of 2021, resulting in a successful exit of retained IP rights.I created the surveys and all middle/back-end software and then secured the initial investment required to add a small team of developers to assist with front-end development. I oversaw the onboarding and management of seven outsourced resources in Vietnam along with spring workloads, using an agile methodology with two-week sprints. The team grew to double-digits at its peak and today continues with a permanent team of four developers and two testers.I designed the initial reporting and analytics models/approaches, using fact-based observations to underpin all discoveries and recommendations. This includes a model that incorporated user responses and claims made in the questionnaire to observable data collected from endpoints. Data was presented in an interactive report for IT/managers and in generated Word/PowerPoint reports for management.

I created a framework to address network-based cyber-security threats by strengthening the ‘first approach’, preventing the ‘first touch’, and preventing the ‘first execution’. The framework is used by Artis Presidium as a sales tool and is being adopted by several US government departments and agencies as a communications tool to better articulate how they will be addressing identified cyber-security vulnerabilities in fiscals 2016 and 2017.I wrote a technical concept for the US Department of Defense’s Spectrum Access Research and Development Program to address mobile military communications security concerns associated with the relocation and sharing of third-party private and commercial networks. The concept involves enhancing and extending the functionality of several identified technologies to secure communications of any IP network and was selected for funding in fiscal 2016.

BlackSafe was a data protection and information risk management firm that worked with enterprises through the GCC to correctly align technologies and policies to ensure rightful access to information. The company also developed designs for high-performance private cloud infrastructure for governments. Having achieved a trusted-advisor status with senior managers and executives in several dozen enterprises, I am relied on to provide expert advice and guidance on IT security and IT infrastructure technology alignments and multi-year planning activities. I created two functional capabilities-driven data protection roadmaps – one for unstructured data and one for semi-structured/structured data. Enterprises relied on these roadmaps to perform gap analysis and planning activities that stress the adoption of capabilities in a logical and stepped order. This often resulted in BlackSafe engagements spanning three years and being the preferred supplier of technologies. I was responsible for the development and execution of the company’s short and long-term plans, including product development and vendor alignment.
