Travel Guide Systems is building a platform for publishing guides for independent travelers. Authors and publishers build authoritative, structured content. The TGS app provides travelers with a rich personalized and location-aware experience taking full advantage of the mobile platform.

As Search Product Manager reporting to the CTO, I worked closely with our internal users and their management to understand their business requirements and opportunities. Based on that, I designed improvements to the algorithms and UI to meet those needs, oversaw their implementation by our engineers, and designed training programs.

I have contributed to every aspect of GLG matching data, search, and recommendations.Researched user needs through extensive user interviews, ethnographic research, usage analytics, and surveys; used Outcome-Driven Innovation to generate product and feature ideas.With Agile/Scrum engineering team, researched, designed, and built a new client- and internally-facing Solr/Lucene-based expert finding system which mines experts' profiles and interaction history, successfully supplanting the legacy search system. Designed ranking algorithm, advanced faceting, smart stemming, smart snippeting, fuzzy search for person names, etc. Evaluated commercial and open-source enterprise search products.Designed and deployed three distinct recommendations systems. Business development for FAST's Web crawl, one of the world's largest. Clients included a major Brazilian media company for which we characterized the Brazilian Web in a novel way and a US media company for which we linked their extensive taxonomies to Web resources.

Responsible for the development and implementation of new search products for Lycos Search and HotBot Search, including user research, market analysis, technical prospecting, product definition, development, and management.Designed and implemented user study resulting in new market positioning for Lycos Search; deployed features based on that positioning.Defined and managed major innovative project combining Web search, natural language processing, and SEO, Lycos Retriever; received U.S. Patent 7548913 and 1st Prize at Search Engine Meeting conference for it.

-- Managed EMC Storage Asset Monitor (ESAM), a Web-based storage management service. Ran beta program with Global 2000 customers. Supported account managers and sales engineers in sales calls.
