In a digital industry that simultaneously asks of its professionals (somewhat contradictorily) to be jacks-of-all-trades and hyperspecialized workers, only those able to adapt quickly to shifting environments are able to provide genuine value to employers and clients. In order to find success in this setting, one must have two things: 1) strong foundational knowledge, and 2) the skills to apply this general knowledge to specific matters, through ever-changing channels.That’s where I come in.🔹 Even though I've strayed professionally from it, I'm a journalist at heart: the abilities I got from that magnificent craft did not go to waste, they feed into everything I do and have helped me in countless, often unexpected ways across very diverse roles. Above all else, it is a way of thinking and approaching communicational challenges. I wouldn't trade it for the world.🔹 I take pride in my skills and genuinely believe I can make a difference. I like stringing subordinate clauses together, personally, but I understand that the public doesn’t necessarily share that like, don’t be spooked. We can negotiate on the adverbs.🔹 I love that basic McLuhan quote, “the medium is the message”. Yes, it’s very Communications 101, but it invites people to think of the medium as a central element to any particular communication, something that has become some sort of professional specialty of mine that has allowed me to thread my experiences in marketing, information design and writing, and even encouraged me to develop a personal brand, The Tailored Word.I love tennis, esports, and the irony of knowing that brevity is the soul of wit.
