I have product management responsibility for Teradata IntelliSphere - our analytical ecosystem

One of the founding developers. I'm responsible for defining the technology roadmap, and with inventing new and exciting ways to compress data and query it in short order. I also talk with customers and prospects about the issues they face, and how RainStor's database software might be able to help.I still get the chance to write code. I led the effort to integrate RainStor with Hadoop, at the native MapReduce- and HDFS-level -- work that I started more than 5 years ago. I also developed the prototype for RainStor's HCatalog support, and recently integrated RainStor's resource management framework with YARN.I've also just completed a prototype integration of Teradata's QueryGrid and RainStor, which allows SQL queries to be federated across the two. Technical lead and bid lead on a number of multi-institutional projects covering the applications of Grid computing to military systems, and security and trust in Pervasive computing environments for healthcare.

Technical lead on Ministry of Defence-funded research projects investigating component- and service-based simulation and information systems. Also developed novel models of human behaviour to support training for operations other than war.

Researched the electronic and non-linear optical properties of semicondutor quantum dots. Made extensive use of distributed cluster computing and parallel algorithms to support the modelling of these nanometre-scale structures.
