Siffrin Academy at Kent State Stark. This is a unique opportunity for adults with disabilities who are transitioning into life after high school as well as on the path to employment. Integrated into the university culture, Siffrin Academy is an education blend of classroom study and field experience; helping participants reinforce skills and abilities they learned throughout their education career. Post Siffrin Academy, I was a Benefit & Ledger Coordinator, working under the CFO for six months. My responsibilities were to coordinate individuals' income, expenses and benefits for 60 persons served in 23 Supervised Living homes. In my position, I paid 400-600 bills a month, handing up to $10,000 in monthly funds as well as communicated with 13 non-payee accounts for bills, groceries and services. I ensured that each individual served were up to date with their benefits including SSI, Medicaid, Food Stamps, VA, Medicare and Waivers. Assisted group home managers and staff with client needs, employment, funds, receipts and concerns.

Juvenille probation case manager assiting youth with employment, life skills and educational needs. Attended court hearings for truancy or to advocate, if needed. Assisted youth with travel training via the SARTA bus route. Helped youth with mock interviews, attending job fairs, filing out applications and transporation to interviews. Co-facililitated an after school program for youth, in a home and teaching TOPUCU or Choices. Our team also taught youth how to cook, clean, garden and life skills. Organized and set-up a clothing closet so youth would have access to proper interview clothes or clothing in general.

This is a volunteer, non-paid position. I am a legal guardian to an elderly individual that resides in a care facility in Stark County. I am responsible for care of the individual only, and not any monetary responsibilities. I visit her monthly, receive phone calls regarding her health issues, attend Plan of Care meetings regarding her well-being and if necessary, make important medical decisions. Through my volunteer experience I participated on the fundraising committee to raise funds for the organization. I have also presented my volunteer experience story to local Rotary organizations in Stark County.

-train developmentally disabled employees by structuring techniques to help the employee learn to perform job tasks to the employer's specifications.-research newspapers, agencies, and other resources for job leads. -locates jobs for interns that have successfully completed Project SEARCH at Aultman Hospital. -matches job skills with applicant qualifications.-created Project SEARCH outings for the interns and staff-generated a new internship site for Project SEARCH at Interfaith Campus Preschool.In 2011 our team placed thirteen individuals with positions in the community. As of March 2012, three individuals have been place in positions within the community.
