I’ve always been drawn to a career in communications and public relations. Growing up, my teachers often complimented my creativity, and my natural aptitude for both written and oral communication. Through my academic pursuits, I’ve had the opportunity to explore these skills, and it’s driven my passion for campaign strategy and execution.My recent internship allowed me to implement and develop the skills that are critical for a career in PR. I had the opportunity to research, write stories, blogs, press releases and social media copy. I can also credit this position with my keen eye for detail, and competence with the Microsoft suite.On top of developing my technical skills, I have made it a personal priority to develop the soft skills necessary for any corporate career. These include leadership, adaptability, and simple conversation skills. Harnessing these soft skills has taught me how to curate and optimize my personal brand; in other words, I have learned how to sell myself, which is critical in any career.
