Maddison is an ecologist with both a terrestrial and aquatic background and has been working in the environmental sector since graduating in 2020. She has a Bachelor of Advanced Science in ecology and zoology with Honours and currently works as a freshwater ecologist with Hydrobiology in Queensland. Over time her work has allowed her to be involved with local and state governments and a variety of industries including conservation, energy and mineral resources. While at Hydrobiology, Maddison has been involved with a diverse range of projects and with a variety of clients, collaborators and stakeholders. Her work has included baseline surveys, monitoring programs, desktop assessments and environmental impact assessments across New South Wales, Queensland and the Northern Territory. This work has relied upon assessing the groundwater dependent ecosystems, aquatic ecology, subterranean fauna (stygofauna and troglofauna) and water and sediment quality in various projects. She has also collaborated with geomorphologists and ecotoxicologist for works including infrastructure projects and development of water quality objectives. In this and previous roles she has worked with a variety of listed taxa including red goshawks, palm cockatoos, Mary River cod, platypus, Merten’s water monitor, saltwater crocodiles and more. Her involvement in projects have ranged from the design and implantation of surveys to the analysis of data and reporting. She brought to Hydrobiology a strong competency in field based operations, animal handling and identification, in addition to strong interpersonal skills that allow for stakeholder engagement.
