Successfully completed complex engineering tasks, such as producing as-built Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) using AutoCAD and performing energy balances on steam and thermal heating fluid systems, with minimal guidance. This required many hours spent out at the plant, taking notes, asking questions to the operators, learning how to use the equipment, and even helping out with the operations when it was needed. This role helped prepare me for my future career as a chemical engineer by giving me valuable experience in the field and allowed me to apply what I’ve been learning in school to a real world setting.

The Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) Program, established by the National Society of Black Engineers, provided a place where engineering undergraduate students could mentor and provide support to elementary students in underprivileged communities through STEM education. My role involved helping manage a classroom of 20 third grade students, not only teaching them general math, science, and engineering concepts in a fun and motivating environment, but also acting as a positive role model that allowed the students to envision themselves in a STEM career field.
