I graduated with a Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Portland State University. I have my Initial 1 Teaching License for K-12 Multiple Subjects. After graduation I had the opportunity to work at the Nike Child Development Center. I gained interpersonal and collaborative skills.I then worked for the Hillsboro School Districts as well as a few private schools including Life Christian School and Park Academy. I was able to work with a wide range of ages and abilities.I began to work at Park Academy full-time shortly. Park Academy's mission is "to empowers students with diverse learning challenges to reach their highest potential of giftedness while excelling academically and becoming responsible citizens and community leaders." It has been my honor to serve 3rd graders through 12th graders in the ten+ years I've worked here. While teaching at Park Academy my main role was a Dyslexia Specialist, focusing on Reading and Spelling.In 2021 I started my own business called Rose City Reading. Since then we have been serving students with language-based challenges, including Dyslexia, ASD, ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorders, etc. We use the Orton-Gillingham Approach to explicitly teach reading and spelling.I am an Associate in the Academy of Orton Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. I use my skills in my everyday role as a private tutor and family advocate.I am excited for this next season in my life!
