Created a field work structure to achieve a multi-dimensional research for my Master’s thesis, meeting with individuals and groups from multiple communities and organisations. Stayed with a heavily cyclone-affected village to hear their stories about TC Winston, and its ongoing effects and recovery process. Studied contemporary and historical discussions and policies in emergency management such as Fiji’s cluster system, and trends of strengthening resilience and sustainability in the international community. The major finding addressed how existing spaces of women’s leadership heavily contributed to cyclone recovery, and can continue to do so going forward, especially with increased support and recognition.
