Responsible for the portfolio of research projects, technology platforms and identification and implementation of new investment opportunities in the group in support of the Company’s strategic objectives.

Responsible for managing and shaping the portfolio of innovation projects between Core R&D and Polyurethanes and Dow Industrial SolutionsIdentify new technology programs and serve as a technology scout in building a pipeline of new innovation opportunities to accelerate growth aligned to the business strategy. Ensure the pipeline of technologies being developed jointly between the businesses and core are driven toward commercialization milestones. European Core R&D focal point, with responsibility to facilitate engagement between the businesses and core R&D in the region to expand new opportunities

Dow Corporate Venturing (DCV) is the collective term for Dow’s Ventures & Business Development, Venture Capital & Technology Licensing groups. In DCV we ensure that the innovation pipeline stays filled with new ideas and we manage a portfolio of technology and business opportunities that position Dow for growth. My responsibilities in DCV R&D include Technology Scouting to identify emerging opportunities and Technical Project Leadership to analyze new technologies and quantify new market opportunities for the company.

Dow Corporate Venturing R&D

Materials Science & Engineering (MS&E), Core R&DDow’s MS&E group is responsible for new product development to enhance and extend the company’s current product portfolio, to strengthen Dow’s leading position in existing and improve its presence in new markets Main responsibilities:• Identifying new business opportunities and emerging trends• Translating new opportunities and needs into technological challenges and validate their potential solutions• Based on a thorough understanding of the underlying materials science principles, devise structure/formulation vs. property relationships to aid and excelerate new product development • Leveraging the knowledge to support Dow’s business R&D groups

• Support to R&D and Business Groups in identifying, setting up and maintaining external relationships to match scientific objectives of Dow R&D;• Gatekeeper for site-wide WBSO (Dutch tax incentive) program for R&D • Formalization/formulation of external research projects and their agreements with researchers in Terneuzen and globally for projects in Europe; • Project management and coordination of research projects in the framework of (inter)national grant schemes, e.g., EU FP6 projects • Establish procedures/working relations for efficient management of external R&D projects;

• Management and realization of contract research projects for polymer industry;• Coordination of research projects in the framework of grant schemes of the Commission of the European Communities; • Acquisition of research assignments;• Chief Secretary to the Daily Board of Polymer Technology Research group.
