Focus on Padilla advising and post-conviction relief work while studying current issues in federal immigration law, with particular attention to the Second Circuit.

Represented fifty clients in District Court under a Student Practice Order, appearing on the record daily for up to eight cases a day. Conducted the bench trial of a simple assault charge, including cross examination of the complaining witness and direct examination of two defense witnesses. Received training on interviews, negotiation, RI law, and trial strategies. Connected clients with services such as social work and mental health counseling.

Assisted attorneys at the Federal Defenders of New York to research, draft filings and arguments, and defend felony clients. Represented clients accused of misdemeanors under a Student Practice Order at Petty Offense Day. Interviewed clients, explained charges and collateral consequences, and negotiated resolutions with the government.

• Digitized a variety of archival materials.• Helped create a more interesting and wide-reaching social media presence for the John Hay Library.• Took inventory, organized, rehoused, accessioned, and created records and finding aids in Archivists’ Toolkit for newand unprocessed collections, ranging from Civil War correspondence to 20th-century legal documents. • Helped inventory, reorganize, and search through the stacks after library and archives renovation.

• Worked on a nationally funded project within the University Archives.• Organized, sorted, filed, and took inventory of a large portion of the unsorted collection of the writer John Preston’spersonal papers, donated to the University in 1992 and 1994; did the same for other smaller collections. • Digitized the Fales Family Letters, a collection spanning the first half of the 19th century.

• Researched seventeenth-century English and colonial bakeries for a new permanent educational craft exhibit.• Interacted with the public through demonstrations of seventeenth-century crafts.• Responsible for basic daily library and collection duties in addition to research projects.• Participated in inter-departmental exhibit preparation for exhibits on baking, hygiene, and costume.

• Worked closely with the photo archivist to investigate, catalogue, rehouse, accession, and add to TMS a collection of250 large nitrate panorama negatives by Frederick W. Brehm from ca. 1905-1920.• Researched photographers and subjects in order to create bios and eliminate confusion in TMS records.• Catalogued and rehoused a collection of 19th-century cabinet cards and carte-de-visites.• Handled large and important collections in an orderly and careful manner, for example the Lewis Hine Collection.• Learned about museum practices, including pest control, vault organization, TMS policies, and cold storage methods.
