With over 15 years of experience in healthcare and public health in the US and globally, I am interested in organizations, interventions and approaches that work to improve individual and community health while honestly grappling with the complexity of the systems that produce health outcomes, both good and bad. A nurse and public health practitioner by training, my core competencies include leading cross-functional teams, developing strategic partnerships, and offering technical assistance in challenging environments. While my experience ranges from running a single community health center to rebuilding a national community health system, my underlying concern has consistently been the pursuit of justice and equity in health. I bring deep empathy and emotional intelligence to my work and my relationships, and am committed to advocating for equitable health solutions, to ensure that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has access to the care they deserve. This commitment is rooted in my belief in the innate humanity and dignity of all people. I have lived and worked in spaces that are very far—geographically, culturally, and every which way—from the places and people of my upbringing, and I am so much better for it. As a white American woman, my default posture is one of humility, and the learning never stops. I have spent much of my career in mission-driven organizations, and have come to believe that such work must start with the health and wellbeing of the colleagues we work alongside each day. This is a significant focus for me as I advance in my career, and I am passionate about co-creating teams and organizations that nurture and support their employees while working to realize a larger vision for a better world.
