Environmental policy specialist for USVI DFW.Drafted and reviewed policy and regulations relating to fisheries and wildlife to work towards productive and sustainable environments and industries in the US Virgin Islands. Primary policy focus was the development of recreational fishing regulations, from benchmarking to promulgation ready packet (signed into law by the Governor in October 2022).Responsibilities included:-Establishing and prioritizing policy objectives for the Division based on mandates and administration goals.-Conducting benchmarking and research.-Drafting rules and regulations, declarations, and notices to fulfill policy objectives.-Writing policy communications to stakeholders, resource managers, and the public.-Representing the Division at development application meetings and in responses to Environmental Assessment Reports.-Keeping up to date with legislation at the territorial and federal levels and maintaining working knowledge of key policies such as the National Environmental Policy Act, Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, and Endangered Species Act.-Supporting fisheries management through scientific diving and additional field work.
