As the head of communication for the PIP-II project at Fermilab, I represented PIP-II in Fermilab's Office of Communication. With PIP-II's interests at the front of mind, I produced, edited, laid out, and distributed assigned electronic and print publications and websites using knowledge of a variety of software packages, including Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Photoshop; this included a monthly PIP-II newsletter. I developed story ideas, conducted interviews, and researched information in preparation of written communication, including press releases. I also wrote general assignment stories for Fermilab's newsroom and Symmetry Magazine.As a member of the Fermilab Office of Communication team, I sometimes assisted with internal communications, including writing and coordinating approvals for all-hands messages; creating and formatting slides for the lab director; and sending lab-wide emails.To assist the head of OC, I wrote and edited copy for Fermilab’s 2022 Annual Laboratory Report, a 70-plus–page document required by the U.S. Department of Energy. This involved molding scientists’ contributions into a cohesive story with a consistent voice that adhered to AP Style. I also helped to compile slide deck for final presentation to DOE.I regularly completed tasks for the director of Fermilab, including co-writing a statement and 5-minute script for a Congressional testimony in June 2022.

I served as head of WIPAC and IceCube public relations, working with the project director and principal investigator and the collaboration spokesperson as well as UW campus communications and National Science Foundation (NSF) communications directors. My main duties were developing content for and managing websites, multimedia galleries, newsletters, social media channels, and other digital platforms related to WIPAC, IceCube, and other sponsored projects. This involved translating highly technical and scientific information into readable layperson's terms for WIPAC/IceCube websites, news, and education and outreach materials. Throughout it all, I collaborated with WIPAC and IceCube personnel and campus contacts to develop communications and education and outreach plans and proposals for the unit. I also represented WIPAC on campus and external communications and education and outreach committees as needed.

I contributed articles to Fermilab's Symmetry Magazine, an online particle physics magazine. My July 2019 article "Massless particles can't be stopped" was a "top pick" in the Institutional category of SciShortForm's quarterly awards.

To help increase the BU Physics Department's online presence, I maintained their Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. This involved taking pictures, recording video, and live-tweeting special events, such as the undergraduate research symposium and annual BU Physics Pumpkin Drop. I also interviewed faculty, staff, and students for research spotlights on social media.

As an editorial intern for BU Today, Boston University's daily web digest for university-related news, I pitch and write stories about student life, restaurant reviews, and club profiles. I also help staff writers as-needed with background research, transcribing audio, and close-captioning videos. My profile of BU's synchronized swimming team, "Synch and Swim," was featured on Boston University's home page for a week.

Greater Chicago Area

During my summer at Argonne, I interned with the communication team of the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF), a U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science User Facility. I worked with scientists to write brief and concise high-level "highlights" about their projects that use ALCF's computing resources. This involved thoroughly reading papers and technical reports as well as communicating directly with the principal investigators of each project. These highlights will appear in the annual ALCF Science Report for 2018.In addition, I wrote three feature articles that will be posted on both the ALCF website and Argonne's home page. These were very different stories, but each involved interviewing scientists and other ALCF staff members and interns.
